HIGH FASHION HYDRANGEAS BRING HEAVENLY NEW SERIES TO THE GARDEN

Irvine, CA- September 2005- Hines Horticulture and one of Japan’s most innovative hydrangea breeders have partnered to introduce the first-ever series of high-fashion hydrangeas called Halo Hydrangeas™.

Named because of the halo of light color that surrounds the edge of each blossom, garden design trendsetters contend that the duality of color make Halo Hydrangeas™ a distinctive addition to partly shade gardens and a “must” for collectors.

The new hydrangea collection offers seven stunning, picotee and bi-colored flower combinations in a range of bold colors from electrifying blue and grape to fuchsia and maroon, all blooming from spring through fall.

“These hydrangeas are a breakthrough because they are the first varieties of lace cap hydrangea with picotee-edged flowers,” said Tom Doll of Hines Horticulture. “The details make the difference in this series. For instance, Angel Lace™ is the first and only lacecap variety ever bred with white picotee-edged margin on pink or blue flowers.”

Some of the other stunning cultivars, including Angel Smile™, Angel Song™ and Angel Eyes™ offer a compact mophead habit that make them well-suited for containers and cut floral arrangements.

Halo Hydrangeas™ grow to three feet high by three feet wide in partial shade, and were extensively tested in garden settings across the country to ensure superior performance in gardens zones 5b to 9. As with all hydranges, Halo Hydrangeas™ usually do best in partly to full shaded areas and need ample moisture.
